Sep 28,  · Lennon had recorded 26 takes of “Cold Turkey” at EMI Studios on Sept. 25, , but decided the recording was not good enough. The song was written in a “creative outburst” following Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, going “cold turkey” from their brief heroin addictions.

The seven new songs are: a rough m demo of Well Well Well with underwater effect; an early, not finished guitar/voc version of God with stereo reverb added; a true alternate take of My Mummy's Dead with a longer guitar outro (happily not electronically mangled), a distorted demo of Cold Turkey played on a buzzy guitar wherein John warbles /5().

The compilation Acoustic collects 16 tracks featuring John Lennon alone (more or less) backed only by his acoustic guitar. It's a good idea for a compilation, but the execution is problematic. First of all, Lennon's solo albums didn't have all that many solo acoustic songs on them; they were carefully constructed in a studio, often featuring layers of overdubs, even on such emotionally.

The sound quality is poor on Cold Turkey, but you can really feel his pain more then on the electric version. The combination of John Lennon's voice and acoustic guitar is very intimate on this CD. This CD shows John Lennon fans how great a song writer and poet he was.
